September 5, 2010

Thanks to everyone who has been supporting us during our new morning hours. If you haven’t made Black Gold your early morning coffee stop, do it! We will be reopening after the holiday weekend at 6 a.m. this Tuesday, September 7th.

New Arrival: Interesting folk painting of calvary in paradise scene from Florida area. Possibly 1940’s.

Tons of used LPs and 7″s out on the floor now and more this upcoming week. Squarepusher, Tortoise, MC5, Flying Saucer Attack, Smashing Pumpkins, Trans Am, Slint, Rodan, June of 44, Eric Dolphy,  Blonde Redhead, Hendrix, Don Caballero, Pele, Memphis Slim, Pavement, Labradford, JFA,  Beck, and much more.

Attention local musicians: If you or your group have a vinyl release, bring one by. We also welcome independent record label releases, so if you have a label come in and talk to us about it.

Look Familiar? Trans Am’s self-titled parody of National Geographic Magazine’s 1980 SpaceSounds flexi, and the SpaceSounds flexi itself.  The likeness occurs all the way down to the Thrill Jockey’s logo, which is essentially the Nat Geo Square logo in a “T” shape.
